Q. What if I travel with a passenger?
A. Should you have a spouse, partner, or friend who routinely attends our meetings and rides as a passenger only; they can join the chapter as an associate member. Associate members sign a Chapter Membership Enrollment Form and Release and pay the same chapter fees as stated above.

Q. Are there awards programs?
A. Every ride or event that our chapter participates in or sponsors, the member is awarded points. These points are tallied at the end of each quarter and a gift certificate is given to the member most in attendance. At the end of the year, points are again reviewed and additional rewards are given including a patch to the top 10% in participation.

Q. What about the rides?
A. We have a variety of scheduled rides to choose from; including weeknights, weekends, and some overnight events. Many of our rides start from our sponsoring dealer San Francisco Harley-Davidson located at 3146 Mission St San Francisco, CA 94110. Typically, an email is sent out a few days ahead with some of the information but the best and latest ride information is always at goldengatehog.net/calendar. We always ask our Road Captains leading rides to inform the group of any specials concerns such as long-distance, hotels, food or rides more appropriate for highly experienced riders.

Q. What if I’m a new rider or need some rider coaching?
A. Safety seminars may be offered either by chapter officers or under group rates with outside training contractors to help all members keep current on helpful information. These short seminars explain group rides and are meant to answer your riding questions. These are recommended for all skill levels to either learn or brush up on your skills. You will learn how to ride safely in a group, hand signals, etc. New member orientation is included in the Group Riding seminar which is held 2-4 times in most years. Lastly, if you’re new to group riding, we encourage you to ride towards the rear of the group the first couple of times. This is to allow you to determine within your own skillset how to safely be a part of our rides. As you gain more confidence moving towards the front of the group may be more your desire. See our Group Rider Handbook here.

Q. Does the chapter offer a newsletter?
A. Our quarterly newsletter is sent out through email and is also available to chapter members on this website. Members without access to email will find that we do print a few copies to pick up from our sponsoring dealer San Francisco Harley-Davidson near the parts department. One of the best parts of the newsletter is seeing and reading about our past rides that perhaps you missed. Generally, the road captain leading the ride will provide a write-up.
